Annual Gala Honors the Legacy of Darryl “DMC” McDaniels and Wallace Leinheardt, Esq.

This milestone event, themed “65 Years: Stronger With You,” will celebrate Samaritan Daytop Village’s enduring legacy of compassion and service to New Yorkers facing substance use, homelessness, mental health challenges, and barriers to reentry.
For over six decades, Samaritan Daytop Village has provided life-changing support to individuals and families across New York, helping more than 33,000 people annually through treatment, housing, and health services. - Darryl “DMC” McDaniels – Founding member of RUN DMC, GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement recipient, author, philanthropist, and a passionate advocate for youth in foster care, mental health, and addiction recovery.
- Wallace Leinheardt, Esq. – Longtime Board member recognized for his decades of dedicated governance, legal expertise, and unwavering support of the organization’s growth and stability.
The evening will be hosted by NBC’s Al Roker, Jr., beloved Weather and Feature Anchor for the TODAY Show, serving as Honorary Gala Chair. The event will bring together civic leaders, health professionals, media figures, and philanthropic supporters in celebration and renewed commitment to Samaritan Daytop Village’s mission.
