Woodbury, NY, September 29, 2021 — Samaritan Daytop Foundation will host a Virtual Gala on October 13, 2021, at 6 PM EST to support Samaritan Daytop Village. The event will celebrate over 60 years of life-changing and saving programs and raise critically needed funds to deliver enhanced services, innovative programs, facility improvements, and more. Every year, tens of thousands of New Yorkers facing adversity benefit from Samaritan Daytop Village’s programs and services.
The Honorees for this year’s Gala are Kizzmekia S. Corbett, Ph.D. (Assistant Professor of Immunology and Infectious Diseases, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health), the lead scientist behind the creation and development of the Moderna vaccine, alongside her team, and Sher Sparano (Senior Vice President, OneGroup and Samaritan Daytop Foundation Board Member). Errol Louis, NY1 News Political Anchor, will host the evening. Al Roker, Weather, and Feature Anchor, Today & Co-Host of Third Hour Today, is the Honorary Chair.

Alongside the pandemic, the opioid epidemic continues to claim more and more lives,” said Mitchell Netburn, President & CEO of Samaritan Daytop Village. “Our treatment programs throughout New York City and surrounding counties are vital resources for those struggling with substance use disorder. Our shelters for families and singles continue to operate around the clock. Funds raised will support essential workers and enable the organization to continue providing critical services and COVID-19 related supplies to our clients.”
Samaritan Daytop Foundation wants to thank Gala sponsor SterlingRisk for kicking off the fundraising by donating $75,000, getting them that much closer to the $700,000 they hope to raise. David Sterling and SterlingRisk have a long history of supporting health-related education and causes and have been a major sponsor of the Samaritan Daytop Foundation Gala since 2018. Executive Vice President at SterlingRisk, Brad Dubler, serves as Chair of the Gala Committee.
